Course Description: NUR 120

 

This is the first medical-surgical nursing course, in a series of three, devoted to learning the professional aspects of therapeutic nursing care.  The focus will be on therapeutic care for patients with medical and surgical conditions utilizing the nursing process and Gordon’s conceptual framework.  Included also will be role of patient advocate and manager of care utilizing principles of therapeutic communication, research and teaching learning concepts.

2/26/2012 @ 4:00 PM. ANNOUNCEMENT!!!! ALL NUR 120 students under S. Rarang and Z. Minasyan. A tutorial session on Mondays is going to start this coming Monday 2/27/2012 from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Room 140 until week 9. 

 

Week 7- Semi-Final Exam

Week 8- ATI exam. Combined examination for both classes- 11:00 am to 1 pm. PM section please come an hour earlier and am section to stay an hour later. This is to be fair to both section.

 

Week 9 - Finals. Usual time for both sections.

Announcement NUR 121 Mondays with Sasha Rarang!!!

Students are to be in group of three and identify four procedures that the group has to perform including Physical assessment and sixty second situational assessment. You are also to formulate a priority nursing diagnoses and then create a nursing care plan for it individually. You are allowed to start creating one prior coming to class tomorrow.

NURS 121L Clinical - at Mission Community Hospital

 

Thursday 2:30 - 11:00 Group

        

 I would like to welcome you to NURS 121L clinical lab rotation at Mission Community Hospital. For our first clinical day, we will meet at Mission Community Hospital main Lobby (14850 Roscoe Blvd. Panorama City, CA 91402) at 2:30 PM. Free parking is available in the hospital's enclosed garage, second level or above. Students are expected to arrive to the clinical site on time in school uniform with school issued photo ID. Bring with you: a stethoscope, pair of scissors, a clamp (hemostat), black ink pen, a pocket size notebook, a wrist watch with second hand and a calculator.  I'll see you all at the clinical site.

Your instructor would be Ms. Terry Palma, MSN, RN. Please be advised that you need to complete the orientation packet information prior to your first day of orientation Tuesday, January 31, 2012. The orientation packet information is specific for Brotman students only. Make sure to turn them in to your instructor the first day of clinical complete. Without this information will not allow you to continue with your clinical at Brotman Medical Center. Please report at 0615 in complete uniform with (white shoes no canvas, school ID, white undershirt if needed). No extra facial rings, or jewelries (rings except wedding band), bangles, or dangling earrings. You are also to be in neat and well pressed uniform. You may bring with you a clipboard to place your documents (please bring your updated red folder), a lunch money, place ink pen, a pocket size notebook, a wrist watch, a stethoscope, and a  calculator. In the future meetings make sure that you bring your drug handbook and clinical companion book of Potter and Perry or Lewis book as references. There is a cafeteria open at 0730 up to 1000 then from 1130 to 1330. Student belongings may not have a  place to consider safe so please within the unit so do not bring valuables. Place your ATM cards, driver's license in your packet and bring only enough money to avoid possible issues of losing any valuables. Parking is NOT free. An $8.00 is charged for one day parking in all parking lot. The parking lot for students is located at corner of Venice
